Hours after the lineup for the NFL’s Jay-Z/Roc Nation-curated NFL Kickoff event was announced, the Roc Nation founder is getting dragged on Twitter.
On Friday, Roc Nation and the NFL announced that Meek Mill, Rapsody and singer Meghan Trainor would be performing at the event, which will take place at Chicago’s Grant Park on Sept. 5. They also announced the coming of Inspire Change apparel, which will be released in honor of the social justice initiative during the NFL regular season this fall.
Within minutes of the announcement, folks from across Twitter began criticizing the rap legend. Although the press release says the Inspire Change apparel proceeds will be directed to provide funding for Inspire Change programs in the league, that hasn’t stopped people from using the apparel to say Jay is only out to make money. People have also suggested that the inclusion of Trainor as a performer and Inspire Change advocate was ill-advised.
