Kevin Hart went on Twitter to express his disappointment after prosecutors charged a man with extortion for allegedly demanding money in exchange for a sex tape that purportedly shows the comedian cheating on his then-pregnant wife.
“Mind blown…Hurt…at a lost for words and simply in complete disbelief at the moment. WOW,” he saidThe cause of Hart’s consternation was the identity of the suspect — actor Jonathan Todd Jackson, who according to TMZ, has been Hart’s close friend for 15 years. Jackson, who is listed as J.T. Jackson in his IMDb profile, played a bit role in Hart’s 2014 film “Think Like a Man Too.”
Jackson was present at Hart’s bachelor party and the pair have posted a number of photos together on social media, according to TMZ ,The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday charged Jackson with one count of attempted extortion and one count of extortion by threatening letter, according to the Daily News.
Jackson, 41, is accused of trying to blackmail Hart for an undisclosed amount of money last August. He allegedly possessed a video of Hart with a woman in Las Vegas, and also tried to sell the video to a number of celebrity news sites.
If convicted, Jackson could face up to four years in county jail. Prosecutors are asking for bail of $100,000, according to the Daily News.
